QUEZON CITY — In a major step toward localized healthcare, the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines (FPOP) and the Barangay Council of Barangay Socorro officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) today, May 23, 2026, to institutionalize and expand sexual and reproductive health services at the community level.
The ceremony marks the launch of a partnership aimed at breaking down barriers to vital SRH health services and resources by bringing them directly into the heart of the community.
Under this new agreement, FPOP will collaborate closely with Barangay Soccoro Council to extend its comprehensive suite of reproductive health services, including family planning counseling, HIV Awareness, Education and Treatment, and Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health—to its constituents.
Bridging the Healthcare Gap
For many urban communities, accessing specialized reproductive healthcare can be hindered by financial constraints, travel distances, or a simple lack of awareness. This partnership seeks to eliminate those hurdles by utilizing existing local health facilities to deliver care right to the residents’ doorsteps.
The primary goal of the initiative is to establish a sustainable framework where community members can access safe, non-judgmental, and confidential SRH services without having to travel to major medical centers. Barangay Socorro officials expressed strong enthusiasm for the joint venture, noting that a healthy community begins with accessible foundational healthcare.
